Rob Shaw

Richmond, North Yorkshire

Rob Shaw is a self-taught artist who has been working full-time in the Northeast of England since 2006, after leaving his career as an Interior Architect. For the past 16 years, he has supported himself solely through painting, constantly pushing his work to develop and evolve.

He first began painting in 1993 when his family moved to Staithes from Derbyshire. The coastal landscape has remained a key influence, shaping his approach to light, texture, and composition. Over the years, he has established his own distinctive style, balancing structure with experimentation.

Shaw has exhibited and sold work internationally, with large cityscapes shown in London, New York, and Singapore. He has twice shown and sold at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition (2012/13) and has appeared on The One Show, Countryfile, Robson Green’s Coastal Lives, and Antiques Roadshow Road Trip. His work and studio have also been featured in various articles.

He continues to refine his practice, always looking for new ways to push the boundaries of his painting.
